I-m up in the Andes and I.ve been given a dodgy internet connection for an hour! As you can see I-m struggling with the venezuelan keyboard too.
Anyway, no time for chit chat, must work quickly. Apart from the horror of not having internet, it-s fantastic here: fizzing with birds and bees and bugs. the original idea was to try to video 100 birds and 100 bugs and butterflies but on the plane I read a book about the BigListers: people who try to see as many birds as possible. a handful have seen more than 7000 birds and only a couple have seen more than 8000. But what was interesting was that a lot of the big listers didn-t seem to actually like birds that much, it was more about the numbers, So I decided not to list at all but just to chase anything pretty and film it.
First up is the Russet-Throated Puffbird. This is the first time i-ve seen the Northern single banded sub species (Hypnelus ruficollis coloratus)
it-s a pain carrying the big tripod everywhere but it-s worth it to get steady vids like this.
ps. This took the whole hour to upload!
Freaky, looks like it's got human eyes. It's not called Gary Gilmore is it?

I see what you mean!
it looks slighly amused too.
Closely related to the Kingfishers by the way (Puffbird, not Gary)
